Work Experiences

  • Director of Route Setting

    Summit Climbing, Yoga, and Fitness

    July 2017 - Now

I began working at Summit as a route setter – this is a person who designs and constructs the climbs that go on the walls inside of climbing gyms. The job requires a mixture of skills including rock climbing, construction, design, and manual labor. After working as a crew member and designing rock climbs for a year and a half, I was promoted to crew boss where I lead a small team during our day to day tasks of creating new climbs in the gym. After a few months of being a crew boss, I was promoted to the Director position where I became responsible for our entire team of 13 full-time route setters. I oversee safety training, work at heights training, route setting skill development, scheduling, materials purchasing, event planning and management, among many other things in order for us to provide climbs that satisfy our 10,000 members.
