A.Me Request Description

1. Please make contact with any type of Senior Living Facility andarrange to interview a staff member that is in a role such as ACTIVITY DIRECTOR, VOLUNTEER COORDINATOR, WELLNESS COORDINATOR, etc.  This staff member is in a NON-MEDICAL role of some kind at this facility and works directly with residents.

2. This staff member can be someone you currently know or you can contact any facility to give you a name of someone that fits this role.  I will also give you a letter solidifying the fact that this project is for your AGER 5810 master’s level course.

3. The interview can be in person (preferred) or over the phone (if absolutely necessary).  Please be respectful of the staff’s time and schedule.  Please don’t wait until the last minute to arrange for the interview and allow extra time to mitigate the unavoidable issues that may arise.

4. Start-up questions are provided below, but feel free to supplement with your own as long as you stay on a professional level of communication and on topic.  The goal is to better understand the multi-dimensional role that this staff member plays and how deeply they are integrated into the residents’ lives. The interview should last between 30 minutes and one hour.

5. Please write a four-to-five page paper of your site visit.  Outline what you learned from the site visit and then integrate your site visit information with three other areas in your paper

a)  How your site visit information relates to what we have learned in the course

b)  How your site visit information relates to what the current legal issues, TV, newspapers, etc. say about the topics you learned in your visit

c)  What your thoughts and opinions are on this staff person’s role and their situation.

Make sure to integrate all four areas into your site visit paper.

6. For confidentiality purposes, the site visit paper should not have any resident names included in the paper.  Just use Mr. J or Mrs. B.  Please do place the name of the staff you interviewed with and the facility information on your title page.

7. Papers should be just like always: Four to five pages, Times Roman 12, one-inch margins, title page, citations and references for supplemental information, introductory and conclusion paragraphs.  All APA style please.
